December of 1941 in the Northwestern Front was a difficult time. There was a German tank column that was on its way to Moscow. In the midst of all the chaos, Nikolai Komlev was flying his IL-2 on a mission to stop the enemy. However, tragedy struck as his plane was shot down, forcing him to crash-land in a remote forest clearing. Although he managed to survive the crash, he found himself far from any friendly territory.
From that moment on, Komlev faced an arduous journey of physical and mental endurance. He had to endure extreme hunger and the bitter cold that pierced through his body. In addition, he had to evade packs of wolves and detachments of Nazi soldiers who were determined to capture him. Despite being wounded, Komlev never gave up.
